Dave Edwards MS LMFT

Thank you for taking the time to read my bio and inform yourself about how I might be of help to you.

I have 15+ years of experience helping individuals, couples and families discover hope again

and I believe I can be of help to you.

Education and Clinical Experience

I earned a Bachelor of Science from NNU in 1983 and graduated from California Graduate School of Psychology in 1997 with a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology. I completed 3000 hours of internship hours in the San Francisco bay area which included the following clinical settings; schools, community mental health agencies and small group practice.

I was licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Washington in 2004 and have been working with individuals, couples, families and groups in a variety of clinical settings including; private practice, community mental health agencies and inpatient addiction recovery centers since that time. I work primarily with adolescents and adults and specialize in couples and family therapy as well as clients struggling with addiction issues.

Theoretical Orientation

My theoretical orientation is an integrated approach using person centered counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy and family systems theory. I view therapy as a collaborative effort, with the therapeutic goals and course of treatment being mutually defined by client and therapist with an openness to discussion and modification as necessary. It is important to me that you feel your needs in therapy are being addressed, and that you are comfortable to raise questions about your therapist, the treatment approach and therapeutic progress. You will be expected to take an active role in your treatment, and you may discontinue care or request a change in treatment plan or therapist at any time. You can expect to be treated with respect and to receive my best professional efforts. I may on occasion, refer to a specialist or recommend additional care or medication for some clients if necessary.
